Neurostatus TC Training

In very rare cases Investigators do not pass the exam after four trials. They are asked to contact their study administration for further advice. Study administration may send a request for additional training to Neurostatus Support.

A personal EDSS Training is offered online, provided by an EDSS expert of the University Hospital Basel (UHB), Switzerland. Duration of training is 45-60 minutes. The training offers (in short form) the presentation held at investigator meetings, with focus on questions of the Investigator. After the training the Investigator receives a new e-Test on Neurostatus.net website (three trials).

What is covered in the TC training?

The overall goal of this training is to provide further understanding of the Neurostatus EDSS Scoring Booklet version 04/10.2.

This training is designed to include exercises covering common mistakes and to address specific questions from raters.

How long is one TC training session?

The TC training is designed to last 45-60 minutes in a one-on-one fashion, but can vary depending on specific circumstances such as internet connection, number of raters, need for translation, etc.

Can you provide materials in advance of the TC training?

We provide the EDSS scoring table Version 04/10.3 and the table for visual FSS calculation, in case the rater does not already have them. We do not provide a copy of the presented slides neither before nor after the training.

Can you provide answers to e-Test questions?

No answers to e-Test questions can be provided before or after the TC training.

Can you provide feedback to raters who failed a 3rd attempt (or 2nd/4th)?

No feedback regarding your answers to e-Test questions can be provided before or after the TC training.

Do you provide translations in case the investigator does not speak English?

No. The need for a translator should be covered by the Sponsor and/or site.

What languages do you offer the TC training in?

The TC training is currently offered in English and Spanish.

How soon can Raters repeat the exam after completion of the TC training?

It can take between one to two business days.

After the 4th failed attempt and TC training, how many more trials can the investigator have to retake the exam?

A new set of trials is given (3+1). The Rater should fill up a form in Neurostatus to unblock the forth trial.

Is the TC training mandatory in case the investigator does not pass the 4th try?

Yes, if the investigator is linked to a clinical trial and/or needs to be certified.

Can more than 3 raters from a study attend the same TC training together?

Whilst the training is designed in a one-on-one fashion, a maximum of three raters could be allowed in this training.

Who is responsible for sending the meeting invitation?

Sponsor or Rater should provide a link meeting for Microsoft teams, zoom, or similar. It is not mandatory for Sponsors to be in the training unless they consider it necessary.

What virtual platform(s) do you use for the TC meetings?

Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, or any other platform that can accept external guests and the option to share the screen.

What Internet connection bandwidth is needed?

We highly recommend a bandwidth of at least 10mbps for a high quality one-to-one virtual meeting.
